The following is about a landlord’s experience – a tenant who used the “Moss” excuse to withhold rental payments. The tenant used the excuses of the “Moss” report consulted by a third party appointed by the tenant herself to demand moss removal and try to file a claim against the landlord. With the decisions from the RTB, the tenant successfully withheld the rental payments. That’s when the landlord found Dr. Demola Okeowo who has a Ph.D. in Law from UBC. I was please to know that I am able to provide a review in regard to the experience I had with Dr Demola. First, I want to say that Dr. Demola is very professional and manage his time effectively. My first meeting with Dr Demola occurred around the 3rd week of April 2023 and by May 11, 2023, he was able to assist with preparing and submitting my application for refugee status here in Canada. No later than one month he was able to secure a 2-year open work permit for me while I await my refugee hearing. While waiting to hear from IRCC for my hearing date, Dr. Demola kept an open communication through which I was able to contact him regarding updates about my case and general guidance on how to get the necessary resources, including government funding. On November 20th, 2023, I had my refugee hearing, and I must say with the work Dr. Demola put in prior to prepare the necessary evidence from background checks he had done prior to the hearing date I had a favorable outcome. Currently, I have protected person status in Canada which allow me the same benefits as a Permanent Resident. I was able to resume my studies here in Canada as a domestic student as well as I am now eligible to apply for government funding to complete my studies. Now, a year later and I'm on my way to get my PR status. Thank you, Dr Demola!!!
